Nathan Fien's got no axes to grind after being dumped from the Warriors.

The rugby league World Cup winner's heading back across the Tasman to play for the NRL-leading St George Illawarra under super coach Wayne Bennett, and he's stoked at how things have turned out.

Fien says while ideally he'd like to stay in Auckland, he had to weigh up what was best for his family and his career.

He says this happens in professional sport and there's no hard feelings towards coach Ivan Cleary or the rest of the coaching staff.

Fien says while obviously things haven't gone that well for the Warriors lately, he's sure they'll bounce back this week against the Broncos.
