The Queensland Firebirds beat West Coast Fever in Perth last night, but not by a big enough margin to make the trans-Tasman netball play-offs.
The Firebirds won the match 54-52 but they needed a 10-goal margin or more to finish fourth ahead of the Southern Steel, who will have to travel to Adelaide for their semi-final against the Thunderbirds next Monday.
The first semi is in Melbourne on Sunday between the Vixens and the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Magic.
