Federer wins record 15th major title

Roger Federer has made tennis history after a marathon men's singles final against the American Andy Roddick at Wimbledon.

It took the Swiss world number two five sets and four-and-a-quarter hours to claim his sixth Wimbledon title, giving him a 15th grand slam victory, beating the previous record held by the American Pete Sampras who was watching from the royal box.

Federer won the match 5-7 7-6 7-6 3-6 16-14.
