Bond back in Black Caps limited overs squad

1:17 pm on 7 July 2009

Pace bowler Shane Bond is back in the Black Caps for the limited overs portion of their tour of Sri Lanka starting next month but won't play in the tests.

And despite missing out on a central contract the Auckland pace bowler Darryl Tuffey joins the Black Caps test squad, with team-mate Reece Young, who'll be Brendon McCullum's backup wicket-keeper.

Selection panel head Glenn Turner says Bond will have a good opportunity to get up to speed with New Zealand A in India before returning for the Black Caps Twenty20 and one days series in Sri Lanka in September.

Turner says the selectors took Sri Lankan conditions into account in Tuffey's selection, and in going into the Test series with one fewer front-line seam bowler than is customary in a party of 15.
