The New Zealand golfer Tim Wilkinson has withdrawn from the field for the British Open starting next week at Turnberry in Scotland.
The Palmerston North left-hander has had surgery on a thumb since he earned a place in one of the final American qualifying tournaments.
Also out are last year's US Masters champion Trevor Immelman from South Africa who has a wrist injury, and the top Swede Robert Karlsson who's been having balance and vision problems which have prevented him from playing since late May.
