McCaw's return has Wallabies on edge

8:26 am on 10 July 2009

The return of skipper Richie McCaw has given the All Blacks a much-needed lift, and put the Wallabies on edge going into next weekend's first Tri Nations Test in Auckland.

The Wallabies coach Robbie Deans says McCaw will bring an absolute hunger and enthusiasm to the squad because he hates watching average performances and he certainly doesn't like losing to the Wallabies.

McCaw has fully recovered from a knee injury and he took part in a full contact 10 a side game on the final day of their Wellington yesterday.

And he's welcomed the news that the All Black selectors contracts have been extended through until the 2011 World Cup.

McCaw and up to 10 other squad members will play club rugby this weekend before the All Blacks re-assemble in Auckland on Sunday.
