Gold Coast beat Parramatta

6:07 am on 14 July 2009

The Gold Coast Titans were not at their best but still managed to outlast Parramatta 18-12 in their Round 18 National Rugby League clash on the Gold Coast.

David Mead scored the game-winning try in the 69th minute, finishing a backline move following a handling error by Eels substitute Kevin Kingston inside his own half.

The Titans had raced to a 14-nil after 12 minutes but noticeably dropped their intensity, with sloppy play allowing Parramatta to claw their way back into the contest.

The result all but dashes the Eels' hopes of reaching the finals, and they remain the only team to have never recorded a win against the Gold Coast.

Both teams finished with three tries apiece, with lacklustre goalkicking by Parramatta's Krisnan Inu proving the difference.

Gold Coast are third on the table.
