Frenchman gains late entry to Open

The French golfer Thomas Levet has gained a late entry for this week's British Open at Turnberry in Scotland, replacing the American Brett Quigley who turned down his exemption

for finishing second equal yesterday at the John Deere Classic in Illinois.

40 year old Levet went close to winning the Open in 2002 when he lost out in a four way playoff won by South Africa's Ernie Els.
