The personal duel between Lance Armstrong and his Spanish teammate Alberto Contador has been the main talking point on the Tour de France's first rest day.

Another major contender for the title, 24 year old Andy Schleck from Luxembourg who has played down the reported rift between the two Astana riders, believes the 37 year old Texan is amazingly strong, lean and smart, and he believes he still has the engine to win the tour for an 8th time.

Schleck, named the young rider of last year's tour, is 1 minute 49 seconds down on the race leader Rinaldo Nocentini, who is just ahead of Contador and Armstrong.
