Wellington golfer excited about first British Open experience

9:50 am on 14 July 2009

The Wellington golfer Mark Brown tees up in only his second major championship on Thursday as a first time qualifier for the British Open.

After his sensational return to professional golf last year, Brown's generally struggled this year, and he's missed his last three cuts.

But he's excited to be at Turnberry, one of Britain's great links courses, and although he always likes to play the Paraparumu links course when he's home, he's not that familiar with seaside golf.

The three other New Zealanders at Turnberry are David Smail, Michael Campbell and Josh Geary.
