Tiger Woods doesn't currently hold a major golf title, but one the eve of the British Open, he's never been a shorter priced favourite.

With the world number two Phil Mickelson taking time off to be with his wife who's undergoing cancer surgery, some international betting agencies quote Woods as an even money favourite, while those on the second line are as long as 25 or 26 to 1.

The world number one's best supported challengers include England's world number three Paul Casey, Spaniard Sergio Garcia, another Englishman Lee Westwood and the young German star Martin Kaymer who has won the last two European tour events, the French and Scottish Opens.
