Ballesteros looks to play next year's British Open

Seve Ballesteros, continuing his recovery from four operations to remove a brain tumour, is back playing golf and keen to compete in the 2010 British Open at St Andrews.

Ballesteros told the Spanish newspaper Marca that he wante dot play for the British public.

Open organisers the R&A welcomed the announcement from the five-times major champion.

Ballesteros, 52, who was diagnosed with the tumour after collapsing last October, says he has recently played some nine-hole rounds with his family.

The charismatic Spaniard won the British Open in 1979, 1984 and 1988, and the U.S. Masters in 1980 and 1983.
