Wilson and Wilkins depart the Sting

4:28 pm on 21 July 2009

The former Silver Ferns Adine Wilson and Donna Wilkins won't be part of the Southern Sting netball line-up next year.

Wilson is pregnant with her second child which is due early in the New Year and will be moving permanently to Auckland, where husband Jeff is assistant coach of the North Harbour rugby side.

Wilkins has also decided one season back in top flight netball was enough, having found it difficult to juggle motherhood and playing for the Sting.

Between them they played over 150 tests for the Silver Ferns and their departure means the Sting will lose plenty of experience, with veteran defender Megan Hutton having already announced she won't be back in 2010.

The Sting made the play-offs this year but lost their semi-final to Adelaide who went on to beat the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic at weekend and earn a place in the final, where they'll meet Melbourne this weekend.
