Sven-Goran Eriksson takes over at England's oldest Football League club

The former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has joined the country's oldest Football League club Notts County as director of football.

The Swede, coached England for five years before one season at Premier League Manchester City and an unsuccessful spell as Mexico coach.

County, were founder members of the Football League but outside the top flight since 1992, are currently languishing in the bottom division.

Eriksson, who has worked at some of the world's biggest clubs including Lazio and Benfica, will begin his role immediately.
