Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve says he is "crazy enough" to entertain the prospect of returning to Formula One, three years after he quit.

"The passion, the desire, the hunger are all there," said the 38-year-old Canadian who was world champion in 1997.

Villeneuve says he has spent the last two years doing motocross and karting and that if he was crazy enough to that he was crazy enough to return to F1.

He says he wants his to see him at the wheel and not just a photograph.

Villeneuve quit Formula One in 2006 after 12 races of the season following a dispute with BMW Sauber and was replaced by Poland's Robert Kubica.

But he admitted he needed a break from the sport.

Villeneuve has already been linked with a drive at new team USF1 who will make their debut in 2010.
