Valencia calls for re-think of Renault ban

Organisers of next month's European Grand Prix have called for a re-think over the suspension of the Renault team for next month's race in Valencia.

Renault's one race ban was announced yesterday after a wheel flew off Fernando Alonso's car during the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Race stewards ruled that Renault had released Alonso from a pit stop knowing that the wheel was not properly secured and then failing to tell the driver.

But organisers of the Spanish race next month believe the fans should be considered as many would have bought tickets especially to see Alonso race in his home country, and they'll be the ones who suffer.

Renault intend appealing against the stewards decision.
