New Zealand's Emerging Players cricket side has lost to South Africa by three wickets on the last ball of their 50-over match in Brisbane.

In another nail-biting finish South Africa needed nine runs off the last over, which they secured with a four off the last ball.

New Zealand earlier made 262 for eight after winning the toss and deciding to bat.

Captain Peter Fulton was again in the runs, batting through most of the innings for 90 off 116 balls while Anaru Kitchen hit 40 from 19 balls during the power play.
