Star England all rounder passed fit for third Ashes test

7:40 am on 30 July 2009

The England all rounder Andrew Flintoff has been passed fit for the third Ashes cricket Test against Australia starting tonight in Birmingham.

Flintoff has been undergoing treatment on a knee injury since his heroic bowling performance in England's second test win at Lord's, and his captain Andrew Strauss expects him to play a full part in the match at Edgbaston.

And Australia are expected to keep faith in their misfiring pace bowler Mitchell Johnson.

Heavy showers are forecast for tonight, which could see a delayed start, with more rain expected on the third and fourth days.
