Sonny Bill Williams could be stripped of boxing title

The New Zealand Professional Boxing Association's losing patience with Sonny Bill Williams' reluctance to defend his heavyweight title belt.

Williams hasn't defended the belt since he won it in February last year and has received a 1-million dollar offer to fight the rising star Joseph Parker for it.

However since recommitting to rugby league, Williams reportedly says he won't fight for at least three years.

The NZPBA secretary, Pat Leonard, says if he has no plans to fight, he should do the courteous thing and resign the belt.

He says if he hasn't heard from Williams in the next few weeks the association will vote on whether the title should be stripped.
