Broncos shut up shop after big loss

4:17 pm on 2 August 2009

Brisbane Broncos players and coaching staff have shut up shop following their humiliating 56-nil National Rugby League loss to Canberra last night.

Coach Ivan Henjak and his players refused to speak to the media today when they touched down at Brisbane Airport.

The loss in Canberra was the worst defeat in the club's history and has virtually destroyed Brisbane's hopes of making the finals.

They've lost seven of their last eight games and conceded 307 points during that time.

The last time the Broncos failed to make the finals was 1991.

The Raiders ran in ten tries against some feeble defence and scored 40 unanswered points in the second half.

Afterwards Henjak apologised to the club's supporters following the embarrassing defeat with the spotlight now on his future at the club.
