The All Blacks' hooker Keven Mealumu is in doubt for the next Tri-Nations test in Sydney in three weeks after he suffered a chest muscle injury in the closing stages of yesterday's 31-19 loss to the Springboks in Durban.
Mealamu will have the injury scanned when the team returns to Auckland, but the assistant coach Steve Hansen doubts he'll recover in time for the test agianst the Wallabies on the 23rd of this month.
Aled de Malmanche is expected to come in as back-up for Andrew Hore if Mealamu is ruled out.
But first five Stephen Donald should make a quicker recovery from a shoulder injury.
Some All Blacks will be playing club rugby this weekend, while others will be given an extra week off.
