New Zealander Andy Caddick to retire

6:41 pm on 3 August 2009

The former England seamer Andy Caddick, who ranks eighth on England's all-time list, is to retire from cricket at the end of this season.

The 40-year-old New Zealand-born bowler, played 62 tests between 1993 and 2003 and his 234 test wickets came at an average of just under 30. He also played 54 one-day internationals.

Caddick has played county cricket for Somerset since 1991 and says it's time to go while his body can still do it rather than be put in a position where it decides to give up.
