The Scottish football giants Celtic have ended a six-year wait for an away victory in Europe with a 2-nil defeat of Dinamo Moscow to seal their place in the playoff round for the Champions League group stages.

Australian Scott McDonald's header on the stroke of halftime and a stoppage time goal from Greek striker Georgios Samaras gave the former European champions a 2-1 aggregate victory after manager Tony Mowbray's first competitive game in charge last week ended in a 1-nil defeat against the Russians.

The New Zealand striker Chris Killen was on the bench, but failed to get on the pitch.
