Air NZ Cup round two preview

4:26 pm on 7 August 2009

The second round of the Air New Zealand rugby Cup continues tonight with North Harbour looking for their second straight win when they take on Tasman at North Harbour Stadium.

North Harbour upset defending champions Canterbury last week while Tasman went down to Taranaki in Blenheim.

Tonight's other game pits the competitions two southernmost teams in one of the country's oldest rugby rivalries with Otago hosting Southland in Dunedin.

The dunedinites will be looking to bounce back after coming agonisingly close to claiming the Ranfurly Shield off Wellington last week whereas Southland enter the game in a confident mood following a comfortable win over Waikato.

In Saturday's games Waikato host competition leaders Manawatu, Wellington travel to Napier to face Hawkes Bay and winless Auckland and Canterbury battle it out on Eden Park.
