New Zealand has finished without a win after losing to Japan in their final match at the Four Nations golf international in Canada.

They lost ½ to 2 ½ to Japan, while Canada dominated the nine-time winners Australia 7 ½ to 1 ½ to claim the trophy for just the second time in Quebec.

Japan led 2-1 after the morning foursomes with New Zealand's sole win going to Daniel Pearce of Hastings and Peter Spearman-Burn from Wellington who won 2 and 1.

Thomas Spearman-Burn led off well in the afternoon singles with a 2 and 1 victory while Pearce halved his match.

There were chances for both Ben Wallace and Scott Johnson, but both lost on the final green and at the top of the order Ryan Fox and Peter Spearman-Burn lost to complete a disappointing week.
