Bay of Plenty's beaten Counties Manukau 32-9 in Pukekohe to go to the top of rugby's provincial championship with Southland and Wellington, who're all on eight points after two rounds..

The Steamers led 16-6 lead at halftime and finished with three tries, their winning margin boosted by five penalty goals from first five-eighths Mike Delany.

The left wing Jason Hona scored twice and centre Nigel Hunt got the third try.

Handling lapses and breakdown turnovers proved costly for Counties Manukau, whose points came from three Josh Hall penalty goals.
