Better day for bowls team

6:21 am on 10 August 2009

The New Zealand lawn bowls team picked up the pace on day two of the Asia Pacific games in Kuala Lumpur with 7 wins from 10 matches.

Defending champion Ali Forsyth lost both matches however going down to American Michael Siddell and Australian Leif Selby in rounds four and five.

The men's four had wins over Singapore, macau and Canada.

The womens triples also had wins over Norfolk Island, Papua New Guinea and Hong Kong.

The womens pairs lost 12-11 to Malaysia before beating Papua New Guinea and Fiji.

Today's action will be crucial to a couple of the disciplines with Forsyth required to be the victor against India's Krishna Xalxo and Thailand's Sakprasert Mithasa in order to continue his campaign for gold.

Also, the womens triples team will have to continue their strong form against the USA and the local hopes, Malaysia if they are to be a starter in the quarter-finals later this week.

As it stands the womens pairs and the mens fours are sitting comfortably in the top four of their section.
