SA Rugby have disciplinary hearing

7:42 am on 12 August 2009

The misconduct case against the South African Rugby Union, its players and management has been heard by the International Rugby Board's independent disciplinary panel in Dublin.

Submissions and evidence was heard by the panel comprising New Zealand's John Hansen, Guillermo Tragant of Argentina and former Australia captain John Eales.

The panel has now retired to consider its verdict and will issue its decision as soon as possible.

The action arises from the Springboks wearing armbands during the third Test against the British & Irish Lions last month as a symbol of solidarity and protest for Bakkies Botha, following the upholding of his two-week suspension for dangerously charging into a ruck without binding on a player.
