McLeod happy his team fought back

The New Zealand men's hockey coach Shane McLeod is taking some positives out of their 1-1 draw with Malaysia in the second Test in Palmerston North last night.

The Malaysians scored after just seven minutes while the home side didn't find the equaliser until 10 minutes from time.

The Black Sticks won the opening test 3-0 and Mcleod had said he was hoping for even more scoring from his side as the series went on.

He says the result wasn't what they were after - but the experience of having to come from behind will help the team grow ahead of playing Australia for a place in the world championships.

New Zealand meet Australia and Samoa in the Oceania series in Invercargil later this month.
