Inglis' future won't be a footballing decision: Storm

The Melbourne Storm's chief executive Brian Waldron says a call on Greg Inglis's contract with the club would not be a "footballing decision."

A Melbourne court has adjourned a hearing of charges of assault and recklessly causing injury against the star centre, accused over an incident on Sunday which allegedly left girlfriend Sally Robinson with a black eye.

The Test centre was suspended indefinitely by the Storm, with the club and the NRL vowing to review their stance following the court appearance.

Inglis is contracted to the Storm through to the end of the 2012 season, but Waldron said the 22-year-old's unique footballing ability would not impact the decision to tear up his contract in the wake of a string of off-field incidents including violence against women.

If convicted, Inglis faces a maximum five years' jail on each charge.

The Storm's million dollar major sponsorship deal is now in jeopardy.
