England batsman Kevin Pietersen's recovery from an Achilles injury has been delayed due to a complication following surgery.
The England and Wales Cricket Board says Pietersen was seen by a wound care specialist and will receive a course of antibiotics.
The 29-year-old right-hander was ruled out of the remainder of the Ashes series following surgery after the second Test against Australia.
His absence in England's Ashes side has coincided with some poor batting performances and the series is now tied at 1-1 with one match remaining at the Oval starting on August 20th.
