Immelman out of US PGA

The former US Masters golf champion Trevor Immelman of South Africa has pulled out of the US PGA Championship in Minnesota this week because of a lingering wrist injury.

The 29-year-old, who also withdrew from the US Open in June and last month's British Open, has been replaced in the field at Hazeltine National by American Bob Estes.

Immelman, winner of the 2008 Masters, has experienced discomfort in his left wrist for several months and has played in only 13 events on the PGA Tour this season, missing three cuts in his last four appearances.

The PGA Championship, the fourth and final major of the year, starts early Friday morning.
