Smail and Lee would make the cut for Olympic golf

New Zealand would automatically qualify two men and two women golfers, if the sport was to clear the final hurdle and become part of the Olympics.

The International Olympic Committee's Executive Board has recommended golf and rugby sevens be added to the current 26 summer Olympic sports, with a final vote on whether they become part of the 2016 line up to be made later in the year.

Under the proposed qualifying format the top 15 on the moneylist would qualify regardless of country, followed by the next 45 players from the world rankings, with a maximum of two per country that do not have two or more in the top 15.

On that basis, if the Olympics were today, David Smail who's currently ranked 91st in the world and Danny

Lee at 114th would compete with Lynnette Brooky and Sarah Nicholson in the women.
