Bolt and Gay into 100 metres final

Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt produced another serene display to book his place in the 100 metres final at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin.

Bolt recovered after causing the first false start to cruise through his semi-final in 9.89 seconds.

American Tyson Gay won his semi-final in 9.93 ahead of Jamaica's Asafa Powell (9.95) and Trinidad's Richard Thompson.

Britain's Dwain Chambers made it to the final with a season's best 10.04 secs.
