There's been a major upset in the women's pole vault at the World Athletics championships in Berlin.

World record holder Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia has been beaten by Anna Rogowska for the second time in a month.

The Polish vaulter claimed the title with a clearance of 4.75 metres while a stunned Isinbayeva failed to clear a height.

The Russian had won the last four global titles, claiming gold at the 2004 and 2008 Olympics and 2005 and 2007 world championships as well as a host of European and indoor titles.

She also lost to Rogowska at the London Grand Prix last month.

American Chelsea Johnson and Poland's Monika Pyrek shared the silver after both cleared 4.65.
