The New Zealand sprinter Monique Williams says it'll be tough to make the 200 metres finals at the World Athletic Championships in Berlin.

Williams shaved two hundredths of a second off broke her New Zealand record when she finished second in her heat in 22.96 seconds.

She crossed just behind the defending champion and Olympic Games silver medallist Allyson Felix and says she could have passed the American, who did look to be coasting though.

Williams is the eighth fastest qualifier and says she's treating tomorrow morning's (5.30am ) semi-final as her final.

She says she'll be going all out to break the record again and if she can improve her start she might even qualify for the final.
