The three -time defending world single sculls champion Mahe Drysdale feels he's in possibly the best shape of his career heading into the World rowing championships in Poland.

Following his bronze medal effort at last year's Olympics, Drysdale will be looking to stamp his authority on the event again next week.

He's won two of the World Cup regattas this year and he says the last five weeks training in Switzerland has worked very well for him and the squad, although it's been different to their usual preparation.

Drysdale says they had no distance markers and had no idea they were goiing but they've been pleasantly surprised since getting back onto the course.

He says it's a real confidence booster knowing they've stepped it up from where they were at Lucerne.
