Not Dixon's day at Sonoma, now third overall

New Zealand's Indycar champion Scott Dixon has finished 14th but was awarded 13th place at the Grand Prix of Sonoma in California after a second collision on the final lap.

He'd started from 10th, but got tangled in a seven-car pile-up on the first lap then spun on the last corner following the second contact.

Both his team-mate Dario Franchitti and main rival Ryan Briscoe avoided the carnage, Franchitti leading from pole to flag but only winning by a tiny .2488 of a second from Briscoe.

Dixon, who started the day three points clear of Briscoe and 20 ahead of Franchitti, is now third, 20 points behind the Australian while the Scot Franchitti is second, four back.
