Injury blow for Wellington

12:10 pm on 26 August 2009

There's been an injury blow for the Wellington rugby side - and potentially the All Blacks - ahead of Saturday's Ranfurly Shield challenge from Canterbury.

Centre Tamati Ellison had to be carried from the field after appearing to pull a hamstring during training.

Ellison captained the Junior All Blacks this year and was in the senior squad for the Bledisloe Cup Test in Sydney as utility cover.

He may have been in consideration for the injury-plagued No.13 jersey, with a hamstring problem putting incumbent - and Ellison's Wellington team-mate - Conrad Smith in doubt for the remaining home Tri Nations Test.
