The Argentina striker Carlos Tevez has scored his first goal for Manchester City as defender Joleon Lescott made his debut, the English football Premiership's big spenders beating Crystal Palace 2-0 in the League Cup's second round.
Tevez, who joined City for $60 million after two seasons at Manchester United on a lease agreement, headed in with 20 minutes to go after England international Shaun Wright-Phillips had put the visitors ahead after half-time.
