Clarke backs Ponting as Australian skipper

6:43 pm on 28 August 2009

The Australian cricket vice-captain Michael Clarke says he's not interested in replacing Ricky Ponting as skipper despite the criticism levelled at the Tasmanian for his second Ashes tour loss - just the second in more than a century.

Clarke will lead the team in a warm-up match against Scotland tonight ahead of their Twenty20 and one-day series against Ashes victors England before Ponting returns after a rest back in Australia....

Michael Clarke says the cloud of the 2-1 Ashes defeat has largely lifted for the Australians, although the feeling of losing the Ashes will stay with him for a long time.

Paceman Peter Siddle and batsman Mike Hussey are sitting out the Scotland game and will rejoin the squad in Manchester.
