Eight NZ boats in World Championship Rowing finals

1:17 pm on 29 August 2009

Reigning lightweight single champion New Zealander Duncan Grant has made it to the final of the World Rowing Championships in Poland, by finishing third in his semi-final.

Lightweight doubles pair Storm Uru and Peter Taylor had a much easier passage, controlling their semi from start to finish.

The success of the lightweights means that New Zealand will have eight boats in the finals.

Six crews will race on the first finals session tonight.

They are: Robin Tinga in the Adaptive mens single sculls, the womens pair Rebecca Scown and Emma Feathery, Eric Murray and Hamish Bond in the mens pair, Nathan Cohen and Matthew Trott in the mens double sculls, and single scullers Emma Twigg and Mahe Drysdale.
