Sri Lanka will be looking to build on their 339 run lead when play in the second cricket test against New Zealand resumes in Colombo this afternoon.
The home side seized control of match reaching stumps on 157 for two at stumps on day three, having dismissed the Black Caps easily for 234 in the first session.
New Zealand lost their last five wickets for 51 runs through spinners Rangana Herath and Muttiah Muralitharan.
The Black Caps were able to claim two wickets before rain brought an early end to play, but the game appears to have slipped beyond their grasp.
Ross Taylor was New Zealand's top scorer with a three-hour 81 from 155 balls with 10 boundaries.
He says although they are fighting for a draw in the test against, they must still play positively.
Taylor says if the Blackcaps play just to survive they'll lose the test match.
Sri Lanka lead the series 1-nil.
