Phoenix go down in flames after 75-minute shut-out

It was nil-all for 75 minutes at the Sydney Football Stadium last night but that scoreline and the Wellington Phoenix's defensive concentration didn't last as they conceded two fairly soft goals to lose 2-0 to Sydney FC last night.

Sydney are now top of the A-League and face fellow high fliers Gold Coast United next week after the newcomers suffered a shock 1-0 loss to Newcastle.

It was an unpredictable weekend with fellow newcomers North Queensland claiming their first point in a dramatic 3-3 draw with Adelaide United, Perth continuing to recover from their slow start to the season with a 2-1 win over reigning champions Melbourne and Brisbane Roar finally scoring their first win of the season, 1-0 over Central Coast.
