Wallabies great suggests midfield role for Giteau

The Wallabies great Tim Horan is urging the Australian rugby selectors to release Matt Giteau from the playmaking duties and give him more freedom to run at second five eighth.

Horan, who played the bulk of his 80 Tests in the number 12 jersey would like to see Giteau moved permanently to the midfield outside the dynamic young Quade Cooper.

Cooper's in doubt for Saturday night's rematch against the Springboks in Brisbane, but coach Robbie Deans also has Berrick Barnes as a serious option at first five.
