Henry says Carter at 12 is an option

6:18 am on 3 September 2009

The All Blacks coach Graham Henry admits Dan Carter is an option to play at second five eighth in next week's tri-nations match against the Springboks in Hamilton.

There will be a reshuffle in the backline with Luke McAlister and Conrad Smith both our injured, while Henry implied Wellington's Tamati Ellison would have been an option if he hadn't picked up an injury also.

Isaia Toeava is likely to come into the mix also, however Carter spent some time in the number 12 jersey at their training camp yesterday and while Henry feels he's sorted out his lineup he wouldn't say where Carter would fit into the backline.....

If selected, the Donald-Carter pairing will provide a dual kicking option in the midfield and allow Nonu more time and space to try to break down the rushing Springbok defence.

The All Blacks reassemble in Hamilton on Sunday to prepare for the test against the world champion Springboks at Waikato Stadium.
