Murray battles into thrid round of US Tennis Open

4:11 pm on 5 September 2009

Andy Murray has become the first man among the top 10 seeds to lose a set at this year's U.S. Tennis Open but regained his focus to battle past Chile's Paul Capdeville 6-2 3-6 6-0 6-2 in the second round.

The British second seed, runner-up at Flushing Meadows last year, lost his composure during the second set, but reacted in spectacular fashion as he ran away with the third in just 21 minutes.

Murray will next face either resurgent American wildcard Taylor Dent, who is playing at the Open for the first time since 2005, or Ivan Navarro of Spain.
