NZ cricketers beaten by Sri Lanka A

The New Zealand cricketers have been beaten by Sri Lanka A by 61 runs in a 50-over tour match in Colombo in a warm-up match to this week's tri-series.

The Sri Lankans scored 234 in 48 overs with Darryl Tuffey taking five for 43, while Jesse Ryder took two for 18.

The Black Caps lost wickets at regular intervals and were dismissed for 173 in the 42nd over.

Jacob Oram made 39, Brendan McCullum, 34 and Jesse Ryder 20.

A number of the New Zealand squad were rested, including captain Daniel Vettori.

The Black Caps play their first match in the ODI tri-series tonight against Sri Lanka, then play India on Friday.
