The man many New Zealand rugby fans blame for the All Blacks loss to France at the last world cup, is set to play a part in the side's tri nations title hopes.

England referee Wayne Barnes will be on the sideline as assistant referee for the All Black match against South Africa in Hamilton on Saturday.

Barnes, has gone down in rugby folklore as the referee who missed the forward pass that led to France scoring their winning try.

The All Blacks need a bonus point win to keep the competition alive while the Springboks need just a bonus point, to wrap up their first tri-nations title in 5 years.

It's not the first time the All Blacks have encountered Barnes since Cardiff though, he controlled their test against Scotland in Edinburgh last year.
