New Zealand's world and Olympic champion Valerie Vili has capped her season with a commanding performance at the World Athletics Final in Greece -- putting the shot past 21 metres.

It's the first time Vili has execeeded that distance and her second throw 21.07 metres was more than a metre-and-a-half ahead of the former world champion Nadezdha Ostapchuk of Belarus.

The 24-year-old ended the competition with another big effort, a 20.72 toss, the second farthest of her career.

Vili has won all 13 competitiions this year and today's win is her 25th in a row, the longest unbeaten streak in her event.

She says it's a great result and her only regret is that her coach Kirsten Hellyer couldn't have been there to see it.

Another Belarussian, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist Natallia Mikhnevich was third, her best measured at 19.27.

Ostapchuk was second this time around, but more than a metre-and-a-half back with a 19.56m best. Her compatriot, 2008 Olympic silver medallist Natallia Mikhnevich was third, her best measured at 19.27.
